Our Service

All of our cakes are made-to-order and any design from our collection can be customised to meet your specifications. During the consultation we can advise on the style and size of cake to suit the number of guests and venue. At this stage we can also discuss how details unique to your wedding such as colour scheme, the reception flowers, the lace of your wedding dress, or perhaps a design element from your invitation can inspire the look of your cake. There are infinite options to choose from and our aim is to help you to find a design that perfectly reflects your personal style and provides the crowning piece de resistance at your reception.

Should you wish to commission one of our designs, it would be our pleasure to invite yourself and your fiancé (plus up to 2 additional guests) to a personal tasting and consultation at our premises in Plymouth. This service is complimentary and will give you an opportunity to sample our delicious flavours and view the beautiful cakes on display. To help us guide you in finding the perfect design for your occasion, please bring along anything that might inspire your cake, such as a swatch of lace from your dress, a picture of your flowers, a wedding invitation and colour samples.

We ask that your wedding date and venue are confirmed before you contact us to arrange a consultation. Please give us a call during office hours or complete the enquiry form to organise an appointment.

We will do our utmost to accommodate all orders, however, to allow us sufficient time to create and process your iced wedding cake we recommend giving 3 to 6 months lead time on your order. Bookings are taken on a first-come, first-served basis and we reserve the right to decline. For weddings from May to September we recommend booking your cake as early as possible, alternatively you can reserve your date with a £200 non-refundable holding deposit and decide on your design at a later date.

A £100 or 30% (whichever is greater) non-refundable deposit is required on each wedding cake and dessert table order confirmation, and must be cleared before any work is carried out. The final balance is payable 6 weeks before completion. For orders with less than 6 weeks’ notice the full payment is required on confirmation and is non- refundable.

Celebration cakes require a 30% deposit on the total cost of your order, payable at the time of ordering, full (cleared) balance is due 1 week prior to order completion.

Payment can be made by cash, personal cheque (which must have cleared before order confirmation is given) and BACS transfer. Details supplied on request.

Where possible we will accommodate any changes you wish to make to your order at our discretion and reserve the right to charge you for any additional costs accrued. As wedding cakes require longer lead-times we ask that changes are made no less than 6 weeks prior to completion. Please note that any changes you wish to make to your order must be confirmed in writing or by email.

For cancellations with more than 6 weeks’ notice before completion, the deposit payment is non-refundable and any specially ordered items and work already undertaken in accordance with your order is chargeable in addition. For cancellations with less than 6 weeks’ notice before the completion date, the full balance is payable.

As part of our service we offer personal delivery and set-up, however, as we can only carry out a limited number of personal deliveries, advance booking is highly recommended during the wedding season. We will liaise with your venue to schedule a delivery slot and to check that all arrangements for assembly such as the cake stand and cake table have been taken care of. Our delivery service is dependent upon availability and will be charged on an hourly basis determined by the travel distance and the time and labour required for assembling the cake. Prices are available on request; please contact us for a quotation and availability.
The possibility also exists that we may be unable to deliver your cake due to adverse or freak weather conditions such as snow or floods and that these conditions may make your venue inaccessible. We strongly recommend that you purchase wedding insurance to cover yourselves for this eventuality.

Should you wish to collect your wedding cake from the The Little Lark Cake Company, we will provide you with full transport, assembly and storage instructions where required. Please note that once collected, the full responsibility for the safety of the cake is with the client and The Little Lark Cake Company is not liable for any damages thereafter.

Please note that celebration cakes are provided on a collection only basis.

A full, copy of our terms and conditions will be provided and must be signed by both parties prior to your order confirmation.
